Rules:
- League is divided in two stages. Stage champions are promoted
and qualified to league finals.
- If stage champions are the same, then the runner-up in the
overall table will be the second promoted team.

[1] The Extra Division was planned to have 14 teams in 1979 - the 12 teams of 1978, with
relegation having been cancelled, and the two promoted from First Division. However, a
new league expansion was approved and Esportiva and Ateneu were invited. Esportiva was
invited for having finished the First Division just behind the promoted teams, while
Ateneu was invited under the argument of having the best revenues of 1978.
[1] A Divis�o Extra teria 14 times em 1979 - os 12 de 1978, com o rebaixamento
cancelado, e os dois promovidos da Primeira Divis�o. Por�m, uma nova expans�o do
campeonato foi aprovada e a Esportiva e o Ateneu foram convidados. A Esportiva foi
convidada por terminar o campeonato em terceiro lugar, e o Ateneu por ter as melhores
rendas de 1978.
