This vote has been organized since 2000 among the readers of the RSSSF Brazil site, by Marcelo Leme de Arruda, Ricardo Pontes and Fernando Matta. Until 2002, the vote was also possible for visitors of the RSSSF Archive to vote through a web form.
It is held every year in the month of January.
The rules for the vote are similar to those of the France Football award.
1. All valid votes have to submitted between the 1st of January at
00:00 (Brasília Time) and the 1st of February at 12:00 BT.
2. The vote must be submitted on a form including the following information:
Name of voter, his state of birth and state of residence and his club of preference.
3. No more than two players of the same club are allowed.
4. A player needs to have been active during the preceding calendar year
in any Brazilian club to be eligible to vote for.
